This Is Blog Worthy

Ok, so I realize this blog has become pretty stale, and that some of you probably think its dead. Well, in all reality, it's just in a state of hibernation. I've been working on a number of things, including further refining our Paleo lifestyle.

Now on a separate note, turns out there is something that is stale and dying... or at least it smells that way... MY BREATH!

That's right. I'm calling myself out. It's not an easy thing to admit, but its the truth. Over the past few months, I've noticed people sort of backing up when we've had conversations. I even think some people have stopped talking with me in person all together. My friends had made a joke of it a while back, shortly after I started living Paleo. At the time, I didn't really pay much attention to it. I kind of thought they were just being jerks, or that I just happened to have some bad breath on the days that I was around them. Well, little did I realize that I was subjecting them to something I wasn't aware of... ketosis breath.

I promise from now on to be sure my breath is minty fresh, or that it at least doesn't stink like sweet, rotten fish. In addition to that, I'd like to apologize to anyone that may have been victim to my foul mouth. I promise I wasn't aware of it before, but I am now.

Got a mint?

Guess who's back...??

New content coming very soon.
It's time to BeTheGoat again.

Stay stocked... er, tuned!

A new reality? Nah... Just the truth.

I feel each post I've thrown up on here since Memorial Day has started with an apology or a re-dedication of my intent to keep this blog alive and kickin'. Well, I'll skip that this time and cut right to the chase... it's been a busy Summer!

Luckily, somewhere in all of the hubbub, I've found some time for self-reflection. Through that exercise, I've established the following truths about myself, and have determined that I have room for improvement.

  • I thoroughly enjoy writing/blogging... But I also enjoy reading, CrossFit-ing, Happy Hour-ing, catching up on DVR, downtime with my wife, and spending time with family and friends. I need to utilize my free time better.
  • I truly enjoy the physiological benefits of living a Paleo lifestyle... But I also have a key vice, which is beer, that negatively impacts those benefits when I overindulge and overexpose myself to it. More specifically, in most summertime get-together's (BBQs, outside bars, beach-going, etc.), beer drinking is a common activity. If I intend to continue to gain from the benefits of this lifestyle, and have proven success in my CrossFit sport, I really need to gain better control over my levels of consumption... and that includes frequency.

Anyway... I hope you are all still out there. My training for the 2012 games begins this coming month, August 2011. I am super-stoked about it, and really looking forward to achieving some amazing feats.

Now, if you'll excuse me... it's my turn to buy a round.

It's ain't easy being green

So far, this summer is off to a GREAT start!

Tracey and I have been enjoying grilling on the patio, and heading to Smitty's in Somers Point for the FRESHEST seafood in Jersey. Our favorite item there is the steamers, no butter, no broth. Just give us the steamed clams and we're happy as two clams in mud... pun intended.

We've also been enjoying some GREAT parties, our wedding anniversary, fun BBQs and just some chill get togethers with friends and family. The past two weeks we also saw two pairs of our close friends get married. The one wedding was my best friend Steve's. IT WAS EPIC! I was a groomsmen in the bridal party for his wedding, and it helped me realize I'm SO fortunate to have so many close friends. It also helped me realize that my friends and I party HARD! Haha... Now there's nothing bad about that, per say, but it does have an impact on my P-lifestyle a bit, and on my overall performance/physical gains in CrossFit. I'm not complaining, but I do have to train that much harder and eat that much more clean after just a couple days around those guys.

Speaking of training, I'm moving in the direction of beginning my official Games prep... I hope to stand amongst some of the fittest world around this time next year. One thing is for sure, if I intend to keep my friends close by, I'm going to have to demo some more personal restraint at times. Hahaha...!!! ALL GOOD THINGS!

Lastly, about the training... very soon, I'll be organizing and participating in some beach WODs. Let me know if you're interested, or if you attending any yourself... I WANT AN INVITE.

How's everyone else's SUMMER?!
